City of Lights

The city is covered in sparkling lights 

just like a forest swarmed with fireflies 

humans in the city  smile and keep on with their life

some stand on the street 

with rough and dirt-colored bare feet 

yet it is with their full heart and soul 

they embrace their feelings

the freshness and hope  that comes with 

every wind they greet  

they live by their heartbeats 

and their eyes twinkle with joy 

hope and happiness when they 

find their loved ones 

lighting a mud candle 

and devouring the food 

they got to eat 

donated by some good-hearted 

humans some of whom 

are sitting in their homes

Singing songs 

And enjoying family dinner 

whilst some of them are driving cars 

in the city during the early night 

as their eyeballs expand when they see the lights 

decorating many buildings and monuments 

and trees and roads 

they smile and inhale the fresh 

the scent of sweets cookies and ice cream 

But the thing both of the people share 

or have in common with are 

their accelerating heartbeats 

the fresh and cold night wind 

they inhale in their breaths 

they witness the lights of the city 

and a glimmering light of hope 

that sparkles from their dreamy eyes

as all of them lie down that night 

hoping to fulfill their different dreams 

as all of them lie down that night 

believing in themselves more than tomorrow 

as all of them lie down 

even for a little bit loving their soul 

with breaths and a hopeful courageous loving soul and a beating heart

 all of them lie under the  

starlit  sky,
